Versatile Blogger Award

(PS, this post might have been delayed just a little bit because I couldn’t decide who my nominees would be. )

They say things come in threes don’t they?

A few days after posting about my previous award, I received this comment on my blog from Diannajessie

“Hi Claire,

I love reading your blog and wanted to nominate you for the Versatile Blogger award🙂 Congratulations

See my link for how to proceed further and thank you for your great posts

Dianna”

Thank you Diana, I am always stunned that anyone thinks my blog is worthy of any recognition (but also quietly very pleased).

This award comes with some rules :

  • Thank the person who awarded you (above)
  • Tell the person who nominated you 7 random things about yourself
  1. I’m not a first-thing-in-the-morning person, and I can’t function without a small-but-necessary shot of caffeine. I then have to avoid caffeine the whole of the rest of the day otherwise I won’t sleep that night or that week.
  2. I love gardening and my favourite smell is freshly-mown grass.
  3. I would love to grow vegetables in my garden, but I’m the kiss of death to seedlings.
  4. When I was 15 years old, I actually asked my Mum to take me to the opticians because I thought I might need glasses (turns out  I was right – I’m short-sighted but seriously, volunteering to wear spectacles?).
  5. I love chocolate cake or any chocolate edible – nom, nom, nom
  6. In my head, my home is beautiful, elegant, colourful, organised and tidy. In reality, not so much.
  7. I have a 3 second memory… oooh! pretty shiny things…

Thanks again Dianna

So tired and so happy

I went to my first ever quilt show today.

Only the largest in Europe: the Festival of Quilts at the NEC.

No point doing things by halves.

My feet still ache and I may never walk again (not until tomorrow at least)

Has to show you some piccy’s before I go for a well deserved lie down (for about 20 hours)

I need to find another way of expressing awe at a great quilt, I must have said “Oh Wow!” about 350 times today.

If you’re going Saturday or Sunday, take a bottle of water, something to nibble on and maybe some painkillers (you won’t want to stop if your feet start aching).  I wonder if I can book tickets for next year yet?

Good news:
the facilities are good, lots of chairs and benches for you to sit on in the two food areas even if you brought your own, and everyone is so POLITE and HAPPY!

More photos and a proper write-up of my day as soon as my legs have stopped being annoyed with me.

Surprise Pay It Forward giveaway

I don’t have any takers for this yet.
If you’re interested and you have a blog of your own, click through to the original post and leave a comment!

I have an ever-increasing pile of goodies that I will trawl through to choose the 3 surprises to give away.
But…

only the first 3 commenters will get a gift.

HandmadebyClaireBear

I found this idea on Danette’s blog Quilting Chemist

who found it on Teresa’s blog Quilting, Stitching and Sew On

This is how a surprise Pay it Forward works (I’ve borrowed Danette’s explanation, I couldn’t do any better):

I will send a surprise gift to the first 3 people to comment on this post.  This gift will be made by me and I will send it sometime within the next year.  Exactly when you will receive it will be a surprise ( it will probably be a surprise to me too).

Of course there are some rules in this game.  Here it goes:

1.  I will make a little something for the first 3 people who comment on this post.  It will be a surprise and may arrive at any time in the next 365 days (yes, a year).

2.  To sign up to receive a gift from me you must…
